You’ll have your own private little area to set up camp, and we’ll guide you to trails that the sanctuary horses don’t use to keep everyone safe. No need to worry about spooking a wild Mustang while you’re on your ride!

One of the best parts of camping at Mustang Valley Sanctuary is the opportunity to swim with your horse in the creek or the large, secluded pond. Imagine the refreshing feeling of dipping into the cool water with your equine friend by your side, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.

And if you’re looking for more adventure, there are thousands of acres of state forest just five minutes down the road from us. You can explore the trails to your heart’s content, taking in the beauty of the forest and the majestic maple, oak, and pine that grow here.

But even if you choose to stay on the sanctuary grounds, there’s plenty to do and see. Take a stroll through our hay fields and come face to face with our herds of wild and domestic horses, goats, and chickens. The restored Dutch barn built in the 1700s even has a community room for paying social calls with your horses.

As the sun sets, gather around the campfire with your friends and family, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. And when it’s time to hit the hay, you can choose from three different camping areas that each offer a unique and peaceful atmosphere.

The Creek Camp is located right next to the rushing Schoharie creek, offering the soothing sounds of the water as you drift off to sleep. The Cliff Ledge Camp is deep in the woods, with a view of the horse pasture that will take your breath away. And the Enchanted Forest Camp is the perfect spot for those seeking a peaceful and quiet retreat into nature.
