Summer: Quiet and Reserved

Mustang Valley Sanctuary

Summer

“Sweet. Smart. Ready to shine.

Summer’s Story

Summer was rounded up as a foal from the Range Creek Herd Management Area in Utah, part of the Adoption Incentive Program. Like many young Mustangs, she faced an uncertain future early in life—but from the start, Summer showed the world she was full of light and promise.

Now about three to four years old, Summer is small (around 14 hands high) and as sweet as her name. She’s been with us long enough to show her true colors: curious, kind, and incredibly willing to learn—especially when things are introduced gently and patiently.

Her Healing & Training Journey

Summer is just beginning her formal training, and she’s absolutely thriving. She’s the kind of horse who meets you halfway, always trying to understand what’s being asked of her. Whether it’s groundwork, leading, or basic handling, she takes it all in stride—with a bright-eyed attitude and gentle heart.

Because of her calm, kid-friendly nature, we think Summer would be an ideal horse for a 4-H group, a youth barn, or a family looking for a safe, soulful project horse to bring along slowly and kindly.

She loves attention, learns quickly, and is happy just being with people. She’s a natural fit for a nurturing environment—and we can’t wait to see her continue to blossom.

Adoption Status: In Training – Accepting Inquiries

Summer is still in training but is open for pre-adoption interest. She’s a promising prospect for:

  • 4-H or Pony Club youth programs

  • Gentle family trainers

  • Therapeutic barn environments seeking a calm, smart, young horse

We’re looking for a home that will honor her gentle start, provide consistent guidance, and allow her to grow into the incredible partner she’s meant to be.

A Note from Summer

“Hi, I’m Summer! I’m still learning the ropes, but I love being part of this big family. If you have gentle hands and a kind heart, I’ll follow you anywhere. I think kids are awesome—and I can’t wait to find the ones who’ll help me grow into the horse I was born to be.”
