Mustang Surrender
Making the decision to rehome a horse is one of the most difficult choices an owner can face. We understand that life circumstances change, and sometimes, despite the best intentions, you may find yourself unable to provide the training or care your adopted mustang needs.
Please know, if you are in this position, you are not alone, and seeking help is the most responsible and compassionate thing you can do.
At Mustang Valley Sanctuary, our mission is to protect, heal, and advocate for wild mustangs. While our physical space at the sanctuary is often at or over capacity, our commitment to the well-being of these incredible animals extends far beyond our gates. This form is the first step in helping you find a safe, responsible landing for your horse
How We Can Help
Submitting this form does not guarantee placement at Mustang Valley Sanctuary. However, it does activate our network and our expertise to support you in one of two ways:
- Direct Intake Evaluation: If we have a rare opening and your horse’s situation aligns with our current capacity and herd dynamics, we may consider them for intake directly into our sanctuary.
- Network-Assisted Placement: More commonly, we will use the information you provide to confidentially connect you with our trusted network of fellow rescue organizations, certified trainers, and qualified private adopters. Our goal is to help you find a placement that ensures your mustang’s future is safe and secure.
We are here to provide guidance and support, not judgment. Your courage in seeking a better future for your horse is commendable.

Struggling With Your Mustang? Let’s Find a Path Forward, Together.
We understand that the journey with an adopted mustang can be challenging. These intelligent, sensitive animals bring immense joy, but their unique background can also present training hurdles that feel overwhelming. If you are feeling frustrated, stuck, or are considering surrendering your mustang, you have come to the right place for compassionate, expert support.
At Mustang Valley Sanctuary, we believe the best place for a horse is in a loving, committed home. Before exploring the difficult path of rehoming, our first goal is to provide the resources you need to build a successful partnership with your mustang.
Our First Priority: Helping You Succeed Together
Often, the biggest challenges can be overcome with the right guidance. For owners who are committed but struggling with training, we offer a complimentary training assessment and support session.
Here’s how it works:
1.Submit an Initial Inquiry: Fill out the form below, telling us about you, your horse, and the specific challenges you’re facing.
2. Share a Short Video: We will ask you to send us a brief, unedited video of you working with your mustang. This is not for judgment; it is a vital tool that allows our experienced team to assess the dynamic, identify the root of the issue, and understand your specific needs.
3. Receive a Free Professional Training Session: Based on the assessment, we will connect you with one of our approved, professional mustang trainers for a free introductory training session. The goal is to give you foundational skills, a renewed sense of confidence, and a clear, humane training plan to move forward.
Our hope is that this support will be the turning point you need to keep your horse and transform your relationship.
Together, we can make a difference.
Let’s ensure that our rescued mustangs have a bright future filled with health, happiness, and plenty of hay.
