Frey’s story begins out west and has several twists and turns.
When Frey was first rounded up, he was still a stallion, full of untamed spirit and energy. But as is customary with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), they swiftly neutered him, making him a gelded horse. Although it changed his physical state, it did not diminish the essence of Frey’s beautiful soul.
In a remarkable tale of resilience and determination, Frey and his companion Loki were rescued not once, but twice. The first time, Mustang Mary saved them from the clutches of the kill pen, only to have them mysteriously whisked away by a hauler who vanished into thin air. Yes, you read that right! Disappeared with them, leaving Mary in a state of worry and disbelief.
But fate has its twists and turns, and Mary never forgot about the two mustangs. She spent a year meditating, sending positive energy their way, and hoping for their safe return. And when she learned Frey and Loki were back in the kill pen, she knew this was her chance to be reunited with them.
Determined, she confronted the hauler and secured their release within 24 hours, backed by the support of the local sheriff. In a whirlwind of events, Frey and Loki were bailed out, and their journey to Mustang Valley Sanctuary began.

Frey captivates everyone who lay eyes upon him. With his majestic presence and a missing tooth adding a touch of quirkiness, he exudes a charm that’s completely irresistible. But it’s not just his external appearance that makes him special; it’s his gentle and kind nature that truly sets him apart.
Frey is a sweetheart through and through, showering love and affection on both his fellow equine companions and humans alike. He rarely engages in aggression, even when faced with provocation. In fact, he often chooses to walk away from conflicts, seeking peace and harmony within the herd.
Mustang Mary has embarked on the rewarding journey of building a bond with Frey. Starting with the basics, she has been teaching him to lead with a halter, guiding him through the process of hoof handling and ensuring his comfort and safety. Frey has shown remarkable progress, demonstrating his trust and willingness to learn, and Mary wants to see him find a forever home where he will be loved and cared for
